This is a long overdue post. Sorry for the backlog.
Thailand for me is very exotic. When I went to this picturesque country last year, it was my very first overseas flight. I went there alone then later met with my two friends who got there three days earlier than me.
We stayed in Khaosan Road and booked a hotel at Amarin Inn. I posted a review of this hotel at Trip Advisor’s website and here’s what I posted:

If you’re a budget traveler going to Bangkok, I highly recommend that you stay at Amarin Inn because of its strategic location in Khaosan Road. You can go anywhere in Khaosan from there just by walking. It will save you a lot because there’s no need to ride a tuk-tuk or bus to go on a city tour. It is also accessible to the pier where you can ride a ferry for a hopping trip to the temples.
Most taxi drivers, however, find it difficult to find the hotel. But I think, that is because there are a lot of ways to reach the hotel through traversing the Trok Surau St. in Pra-Athit. But nonetheless, for seasoned drivers, it is relatively easy to locate the Amarin Inn. Besides, the location of the hotel is good enough for me because it’s a bit far from the road and so, you’ll definitely have a good night sleep since you won’t be bothered by traffic noises.
Furthermore, although some people may complain about the smelly alley on your way to the inn, I think it’s okay because it’s part of the experience of transient living in Khaosan Rd. Besides, once you enter Amarin Inn, the room is cozy enough for a budget hotel. It’s clean, relatively cheap for as low as THB 1100 (good for 3 nights) and the owners are really nice.
Me and my friends were fortunate enough to meet and chat with them while waiting for the airport bus. They are well-versed in Thailand history and were nice enough to give us an advice on where to purchase quality but cheaper items in Thailand.
The staff were also efficient to address our problems with the shower heater which at first didn’t work. On a lighter note, I have less expectations whenever I stay in budget hotels for my travels so, I think I can already consider Amarin Inn as a good deal for me.
Just a bit of recommendation to the owners though, I hope the hotel will soon have a service elevator so that it will be more convenient for guests with heavy luggage to go their respective rooms.
Overall, I have a good experience living in Amarin Inn.
Meanwhile, equipped with my ever reliable CANON point and shoot camera and Samsung Corby II cellphone, I explored the city with such curiosity and enthusiasm that I captured everything that caught my interest. I was actually impressed with the integration of progress and nature in Thailand.
It was a dream come true. I hope to visit it again in the near future.
