"Unrequited"
He pulled her close
embraced her tightly like she was the only one for him.
But, his mind was wandering a thousand miles,
in oblivion from the warmth on the surface.
He stared at her
and gently stroke her raven black hair.
Yet, his eyes were like black holes without gravity,
purely an eternal void of loneliness.
She wrapped her arms around him
and listened to his heartbeat,
echoing empty promises and hope.
She held back her tears,
concealed her emotions,
returned his gaze,
caressed his face...
...and then, she smiled.
